Severe Lower Back Pain
If you have problems with your back, there is not much that you can do to forget it. No matter what you do or how you position your body, you are going to have at least some discomfort. You can try pain killers and the like, but when you have severe lower back pain, those are not going to work out too well for you. Instead, you have to think about things that you can do through your doctor and perhaps exercises that can strengthen the back and make you feel better all over.
There are many reasons why severe lower back pain can happen. One of the most common is that there has been some damage to the spine. The bones in the spine are not as tough as you may think that they are, and the discs in between can wear away as we get older. Some people have problems with this because of their jobs, and this happens over a period of time. Some get severe lower back pain because they have been in some sort of an accident that has done substantial damage to that lower part of the back that we use more often than we think.
Severe lower back pain can also be a result of something that has nothing to do with the spine. There are all kinds of muscles that work through the back, and if you do something wrong, they can pull, strain, or simple bunch up and refuse to relax. All of these are very painful and can hurt just as bad as if you had spinal injury. This type of severe lower back pain can make it so that someone can not walk, sit, or stand without wincing from insane amounts of pain.
When any of these things happen, you may try to control your severe lower back pain with medications. You can also try to put heat on your back, but that may not do much after a few days have gone by. You are going to have to go to your doctor to get more help. They may send you to a chiropractor to see if your back is out of place. That alone can be a huge part of the problem. They are going to want to do a few x-rays if your severe lower back pain is because of damage to your spine in any way. You will probably get some stronger medications to help with the pain with spine damage.
If you have severe pain in lower back because of your muscles, you may get a muscle relaxer along with a pain killer. When you take these, you may have to take a few days off of work because the muscle relaxers and the pain killers together are going to make you groggy and perhaps may make you fall asleep. You may not be able to drive, not that you want to when you are having severe lower back pain anyway. Have someone around to help you until you start to feel better.
